Broward’s Back to School Community Extravaganza 2016
Broward County School Social Workers, HandsOnBroward, and the Children’s Services Council of Broward County organized our 6th annual Back to School Community Extravaganza. 5700 school supply-‐filled backpacks, over 4000 books, school uniforms, and over 3000 brand new shoes were given to our most needy Broward County school children. There were 3 distribution venues: Plantation High School, the Pompano Civic Center, and New Renaissance Middle School. There were over 80 vendors, which included agencies that give important services to our families. There were haircuts, immunizations, physicals, face painting, bounce houses, and other services available to the children at each event. Our School Social Workers referred most of the families. The other families were referred through our partner organizations: the YMCA, the City of Miramar, and the Crockett Foundation. This event is one of the signature initiatives of the Student Services School Social Workers. We are very proud to be able to help plan and raise the money, alongside the Children’s Services Council of Broward County. Thank you to all who assisted us!
